The Partnership gets mobilized: a look back at the GPSA Forum

Held on May 14 and 15, 2014, the GPSA’s first Global Partners Forum was a milestone event. The Forum brought to life and mobilized the GPSA’s rapidly growing network of Global Partners - CSOs, academic institutions, development agencies and businesses. More than 200 participants representing over 165 organizations from 50 countries convened in Washington for 2 days. There was an uncommon vibrancy among the participants, who also engaged in a dialogue with World Bank President Jim Kim. The Global Partners Forum leaves a legacy, as well as an immediate agenda for action, in the form of Working Groups of Global Partners and an energized and empowered Partnership. CheckMySchool - ANSA EAP in the Philippines | Project Highlight

The GPSA and Open Society Foundation are supporting ANSA-EAP’s CheckMySchool project. CMS aims to establish local partnerships between government, parents and students at 46,000 schools in the Philippines, in order to help students and parents access accurate information and give feedback about schools’ performances to the Ministry of Education through a web-based platform. Over the past year, CMS has worked on a memorandum with the Department of Education (DepEd) to endorse CheckMySchool in all schools in the Philippines. ANSA-EAP together with DepEd will be developing a documentary on the state of education services in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). Meanwhile, it launched an issue resolution campaign, aiming to address issues at the local level through roundtable discussions, involving CMS volunteers, local school boards, and local DepEd staff.
