Biya is a biologist and biotechnologist by training, and has worked extensively for multilateral organizations in a variety of operations. Currently at the World Bank, Biya works on the Global Partnership for Social Accountability, the Citizen Engagement mandate of the World Bank President, and the Nordic Trust Fund. Prior to the World Bank, Biya worked at the World Health Organization on HIV and TB, supporting the 3by5 Initiative and Integrated Management of Adolescent and Adult Illness (IMAI) modules. In addition, she worked as a Researcher at the Inova Biomedical Research Center and worked with the Consular at the Permanent Mission of Ethiopia to the UN in Geneva. Biya holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Biotechnology from George Mason University.
