The Global Partnership for Social Accountability is pleased to announce that Ceyla Pazarbaşıoğlu, World Bank Vice President for Equitable Growth, Finance and Institutions – EFI - is the new chair of its Steering Committee,

Pazarbaşıoğlu replaces Jan Walliser following his untimely death last summer. Jan was an inspiring leader committed to the vision of the GPSA and we are grateful for his unwavering support of the program. We look forward very much to Ceyla’s leadership and guidance!

“I am delighted to serve as the chair of the GPSA, which plays a crucial role in fostering social accountability and improving the delivery of basic services in our client countries,” said Pazarbaşıoğlu. “The GPSA, jointly with our CSOs partners, is facilitating a constructive dialogue between governments and citizens that is essential for achieving development goals.”

“We are honored to have Ceyla as our new GPSA chair, and we look forward to working with her on a variety of initiatives that aim to strengthen and amplify the impact of the GPSA program, particularly in priority development topics like human capital and fragile and conflict-affected countries,” said Jeff Thindwa, manager of the GPSA.

The Steering Committee is chaired by the World Bank with balanced representation among civil society organizations (CSOs), donors and governments. Members are rotated in a staggered manner every three years.
